About Gus
Gus Rossi is a director on the Responsible Technology team at Omidyar Network, focused on encrypted messaging, platforms, and power, and alternative business models. He advances a vision for technology that underpins greater individual power, social opportunity, and user data safety.
Gus Rossi is an experienced technology policy leader and international advisor with a background in advocacy, philanthropy, and multilateral development. At Omdyar Network, he leads the work on responsible tech initiatives that balance privacy, free expression, and platform accountability while exploring sustainable business models. Previously, he served as director of global policy at Public Knowledge, promoting freedom of expression, an open internet, and affordable access to communications. At the Inter-American Development Bank, he directed the Multilateral Investment Fund. He advised the government of Argentina on 100+ loan proposals to support public- and private-sector development across Latin America.
Gus holds a B.A. in political science from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, an M.Sc. in international political economy from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and a Ph.D. in political science from the European University Institute.
