About Lisette

Lisette Orellana Engel serves as Director of the Economic Policy Project at UnidosUS, the largest civil rights organization advocating for Latinos in the United States. In this role, she leads the development and execution of policy priorities to enhance economic opportunities for the Latino community. 

Lisette has a proven track record of developing and executing policy initiatives at local, state, and national levels, collaborating with a team of experts to analyze economic trends and engage with deferral policymakers. Her leadership ensures that the voices of families with young children, immigrants, and seniors are heard in the policy-making process.

Before her current position, Lisette served as Vice President of Policy and Systems Change for Justice and Joy National Collaborative, where she sharpened her skills in advocacy and policy development. Fully bilingual, she effectively communicates and represents Latino economic interests across various high-level policy forums and media outlets.

Lisette holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Baltimore. As a thought leader in economic policy, her extensive experience and insight shape discussions on economic justice and opportunity for the Latino community.
